Who we are

The WCDC collaborates to create, fund, and implement community good projects that improve the lives of Wimauma residents and businesses around education, economic opportunities, and housing. We facilitate the Wimauma Community Plan Advisory Committee (WCPAC) and advocate for local affordable housing and economic development projects. We connect with businesses and residents and engage them around emerging needs and solutions through town halls and community meetings.

The Anchor Organization for a Strong and Healthy Wimauma

Each day, the Wimauma Community Development Corporation is hard at work to make Wimauma a better place to live, work and prosper, particularly by and for the low- and moderate-income individuals and businesses in the community. We work on community planning, quality affordable housing, homeownership, and economic, workforce, and youth development opportunities for all residents.

Advocating for Positive Social and Economic Change

We are a 501(c) (3) public/private partnership that champions meaningful change aligned with the needs of the Wimauma community.  Founded in 1967 as the  Citizens Improvement League of Wimauma, our roots and relationships run deep throughout the community.  Over the years, we have led numerous community initiatives that helped children get ready for school, fought gentrification, built neighborhood pride, prevent crime, and more.

Advancing Wimauma's Future

The Wimauma Community Development Corporation is the lead change agent for the Wimauma Common Good initiative, launched in 2014 by Allegany Franciscan Ministries to mobilize communities towards better health and wellness through community engagement, increased collaboration, and strategic advocacy.  Wimauma community members are energized and organized to achieve our collective vision of empowering all to succeed – while maintaining Wimauma’s unique small-town charm and multicultural heritage.
