Wimauma Now

Updating Plans for Wimauma’s Downtown Development

Wimauma Now! is a community project led by the Wimauma Community Development Corporation in partnership with Enterprising Latinas. The project’s goal is to update the Wimauma Village Plan, adopted by Hillsborough County in 2007, especially as it relates to developing the downtown economic corridor. Once completed, the updates and recommendations will be submitted as a plan amendment to the Wimauma Village Plan and guide development in the downtown area as well as provide a framework for related land development use and regulations.

Currently, the project consists of a cohort of 20+ community members and stakeholders who meet monthly. The project has gained the support of County Commissioners, and  the group has reached out to the Hillsborough Planning Commission to  provide technical assistance to the project.

The group successfully secured the support of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) to provide planning and analysis of the master plan updates.
