Anchor Organization for a Strong and Healthy Wimauma
Quality workforce housing. Improved community infrastructure. Opportunities for youth to succeed. Each day, the Wimauma Community Development Corporation is hard at work to make Wimauma a better place to live, work and prosper, particularly by and for the low- and moderate-income individuals and businesses in the community.
Backbone of Positive Social and Economic Change
We are a 501(c) (3) public/private partnership that champions meaningful change aligned with the needs of the Wimauma community. Founded in 1967 as the Citizens Improvement League of Wimauma, our roots and relationships run deep throughout the community. Over the years, we have led numerous community initiatives that helped children get ready for school, fought gentrification, built neighborhood pride, prevented crime and more.
Advancing Wimauma’s Common Good
The Wimauma Community Development Corporation is the lead change agent for the Wimauma Common Good initiative, launched in 2014 by Allegany Franciscan Ministries to mobilize communities towards better health and wellness through community engagement, increased collaboration, and strategic advocacy. Wimauma community members are energized and organized to achieve our collective vision of empowering all to succeed – while maintaining Wimauma’s unique small town charm and multi-cultural heritage.
